• You can buy lots of cheap scanners now for about $90.00 but they will be analog models. Since most emergency services now use digital, the analog scanners will be pretty useless. Call your county's non-emergency dispatch phone number, tell them you are buying a scanner, and ask if they are on digital (400 mHz+) or are soon converting to it. Hope this helps.
