“I have the setting turned on for parking mode and the camera is receiving power. How do I know if parking mode is on? There is a "P" in the corner of the screen with it on. Do I have to hit the record button or does it turn on and off automatically”

The "p" is correct on the screen of the camera. It is automatically recording with motion and will not without any motion outside the vehicle.
