No, you do not have to remotely start the vehicle, you can use the key to enter and start the vehicle. The factory remotes will still work to lock and unlock the doors; however, I put the factory remotes in storage. The new remotes will lock and unlock the vehicle. Yes, the key still has to be in the ignition to drive. When you tap the brake the autostart shuts down the engine, unless the key is in the on position.

I don’t have keyless entry on my vehicle, but I don’t think it will effect it. No, I’m fact this system allowed for my keys to be programmed so that I can use them to remotely start my vehicle. Yes, the key does have to be in the ignition to drive the vehicle as part of the safety features of the system.
