• I added corsair SP120 fans that are 3 pin and they work fine.

• Yes, any 3-pin fan can connect to a 4-pin fan header. Just be sure to properly align the plastic tabs on the fan plug and the hub slot. The missing fourth pin is for PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and is strictly for fan speed control. The hub may or may not be able to control a 3-pin fan's speed via DC.
