You can just plug it into the motherboard as it has a typical 4 pin connector, but the rgb lighting simply won't turn on at all. This is because there is another cord that has rgb connectors on them that will just sit there hanging unless you plug it into the lighting node core (which... Again... Handles the lighting). The core controls all rgb lightings for your Corsair fans.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've read that if you plug it directly into an MSI motherboard then mystic light (Rgb control software) will be able to control it. I'm not sure if iCue would work without the iCue node though. My source is reddit. "Connecting Corsair LL120 RGB to MOBO" posted about 1 year ago. So if you want to fully take advantage of the RGB setup with the LL120 fans, what I would do if I was you would go buy directly from Corsair, they have a bundle special for 3 fans and the node for like 139.99. Or if you're still in the process of building you can maybe switch your case to an iCue 465x which comes with a node pre installed and 3 fans.
