“When I turn the fan button on for convection cooking, the little symbol lights up that it is on, however I don't hear anything that sounds like a fan running. Is it that quiet or did I get a dud?”

You may turn the fan on and off at any time during cooking. Please keep in mind that the fan cannot be used for the Toast or Bagel function and that the fan is always on for the Dehydrate function.
