• A:Answer No. Purchase of a refill card is one way to fund your Cricket account. I purchased one with the SIM card and a phone. This gave me 50.00 off the phone, and a $40 refill card only cost $32. I then used the refill card for a $40 credit on my account, so that was a pretty good deal. You can chose to continue to purchase refill cards, or give them a credit card which will be charged every month. This is my preferred way of doing things, as you don't have to remember to go to the store to buy a new refill to use either on-line or from your phone.

Q: QuestionI was about to purchase a phone with save on $50 on cricket deal. However I done't live anywhere close to there I can pick up the Cricket Wireless - Universal SIM Card Activation Kit. Is there anyway you can send it to me?

• A:Answer Best Buy shipped the activation kit to me at home. They can do that for you easily. It's just a cardboard holder about 4" square and ships easily. You put it in the phone and go to a Cricket re-seller or to a Cricket Store or on-line and Cricket website walks you through the setup. Since I already had Cricket, it turned out not to be needed, as Cricket could use my existing Cricket SIM card just by cutting it down. My previous phone used a micro sim and the new phone uses a nano sim size. The Universal Activation Kit lets you have multiple sizes of sim cards from the one package.

• A:Answer It all depends on the phone. The Cricket website has a way to find out if your phone is compatible. If that doesn't work, you could always stop by one of the stores and check it out.

• A:Answer I was told probably could, but that they now charge for in store visits that can be done online or over the phone. I was super intimidated to try to activate it myself, but it's actually pretty easy. Just punch out the card to the right size, and put it in your phone, and call the 800 number on the packet. The people on the line will walk you through the rest. If you're worried about how to install the sim card: if you bought it through Best Buy, they will usually install it for you there.
