This is 100% powered by you. You can set the resistance but the pedals will not move unless you press them.

No - it does not work on its own. It only moves with your feet pedaling it. Even with tension knob turned way up, it's still fairly easy to pedal.

You have to do the work. There is also a Tension knob to make it more difficult.
