• A:Answer Not normal. I have the same issue. The connection is not very snug and causes the unit to turn off mid-smoking. Therefore it has to be monitored continuously. My next smoker will be a different brand for sure.

• A:Answer Their website says the temperature range is from 100° to 400° F. I imagine the local climate will effect the actual temperature inside the box so some experimenting may be necessary.
