Hi there, great question. The 450VA UPS is rechargeable and does not need to be replaced after use. When utility power returns and the UPS is plugged into a working wall outlet, it will automatically recharge. A near-full recharge typically takes about 6-8 hours. The runtime on this unit is as follows: Half Load Maximum Run Time: 6 minutes Full Load Maximum Run Time: 1.5 minutes
