Tiny, but useful

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:PriceThis device used to be big, but this particular item is really compact. That makes it convenient when you don't have a lot of space under your desk or behind the the entertainment center. Well designed to fit 8 power cords, including those power cords like the apple and Asus king, they are bing in lenght. Maybe not so convenient for those wide power connectors like those from 3.5 external disk. Price is very good, I just hope the small battery included will last long and wont run out of power before the time specified on spec. it can be laid on the floor or hang it to the wall with two screws provided with the package. The cable is very long, make it convenient to reach a power outlet that is far from your equipments.

An hour of power for modem+router
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5I had long wanted battery backup for our internet so that my wife could continue an online (e.g. Zoom) meeting during a power failure without interruption and end it gracefully. I could not figure out from the info available online just how long the backup would last given the volt/amp rating of the system ( I saw estimates ranging from a few minutes to a few hours). So when this unit when on sale I bought it mainly for calibration purposes, to see how many minutes of backup a 450VA system would give me. Since our laptop batteries last nearly 2 hours, we only needed backup for the cable modem and router. The total wattage of those units was about 22.5 watts, and this system powered them for an hour and ten minutes. The box the unit came in also has a useful table on the outside, showing how long the power would last given the power consumption of what is being backed up. I could not find that info online, either in the tech specs or the summary product description on the Best Buy website. As the wattage of the devices being backed up increases, the length of time that that the backup power lasts goes down sharply. No wonder that the online estimates ranged from a few minutes to a few hours.

Q: QuestionHow long would this supply power to a typical Dell desktop and monitor? I believe the desktop has an SSD drive.
Asked by DoctorG.
- A:Answer This type of backup is really only meant to cover quick power-outages and fluctuations. It weighs less than 4 pounds, so the battery is quite small. And it specifies it can handle full load for 90 seconds... and 6 minutes for half load. If would be safe to expect something in between those two numbers. There are too many variables in power consumption between different computers and monitors and actual usage to hazard a more accurate guess. As the manufacture states for this unit: "Battery backup keeps devices running during brief outages and provides enough run-time power for safe shut down." If you need more than that, then you'll need to look at stepping up from this unit. If you look at the specs for other units available at Best Buy, some will cover 2 hours of run time for a standard desktop and monitor... but those units are more expensive, bigger, and heavier, some over twenty pounds, because of the more substantial batteries. The APC Pro 1500VA is around 4x the price of this unit, but could allow you to work for 2 or more hours without interruption. If your down time costs you money, then think about investing in a more substantial unit.

Q: QuestionIs this model (450V) enough just to plug a PS5 and a SmartTv Samsung 55" and have at least 5-10 minutes to save the game and turn off bot devices when the electricity is cut? Thank you.
Asked by AsusTUFMonitor.
