“in the description it lists that it has a super mulit dvd/cd burner that reads and writes to dvd+r/rw, dvd-r/rw, cdr/rw, dvd-ram and double-layer dvd. But, in the specs in only shows the optical drive as a dvd. What is correct?”

You're reading the various types of media that the drive is capable of reading and writing. In general a DVD burner will be capable to burning CD-R/W and DVD-R/W types of media as drives will typically be backwards compatible with the previous types of optical discs.
