RAM is kinda picky as far as mixing kinds. so to be safe if you want to upgrade to 16gb buy a whole new set of ddr3 with a mhz rating between 1333 and 1866 to be sure its compatable or search the model number of ram that is in your computer and but another stick of the same kind which will give you the 16gb you are looking for. hope that helps
