It is DDR4 3000Mhz and should be installed in matching pairs in slots 1/3 or 2/4 (they are color coded on motherboard. It was more cost effective to by a pair rather than match the one stick it came with. I upgraded with CORSAIR - VENGEANCE LPX Series 16GB (2PK 8GB) 3.0GHz DDR4 from best Buy. I am happy with performance with this 16GB ram
