it better to add the exact same type of ram , I added 4 new sticks so I have 32 gigs , I* used Corsair ram as the types of ram that came with my comp was not available, and you need to find which mother board you have as each mother board has different requirements as to upper Ram speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Adding additional RAM is A okay! However, make sure that the ram you buy is compatible with the other Ram, already installed. It may be easier to buy a 16gb kit (2x8gb).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Download CPU-Z. It's freeware (no ads), and it will tell you what type of memory you have installed, how much, and if there are any open slots. Select the Memory tab, it will tell you how much total RAM is installed. Select the SPD tab, it will tell you what size and speed memory is installed in which slots. If a slot is empty, it will also tell you that. When adding RAM (keeping what you have and adding RAM to empty slots), buy the same type and speed, but don't exceed the total memory your MB can handle. If replacing what is already there, then use your Motherboard user guide to determine the type and maximum speed you need to buy. It will also tell you ECC or non-ECC type.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Thank you for reaching out to us. The best way to purchase more RAM for the PC would be to look up the serial number on the side of the RAM online and purchase the exact same stick. It is always recommended that you have matching sticks of RAM inside your PC to avoid incompatibility issues.
