No. These must have a neutral wire. They are supposedly bringing out new switches in 2020 at some point for people with older houses that don't have the neutral wires.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I called GE specifically since I am interested in this product. This one does require the neutral wire. The new product which works in older homes (40%-50% of those in the US) was scheduled to be released in mid April 2020. The pandemic has delayed the release some, but customer service couldn't tell me exactly how long. They didn't think too long since it was close to ready. Fingers crossed.

Please try again later.Im pretty sure you are talking about the ground as all 120volt services require a neutral to work at all older houses have a hot and a neutral with no ground newer homes have a hot, neutral and a ground. yes you can install this in this situation you would simply not connect the green wire, or tie it to the box, you could also bond it to the neutral and it should work all three ways as the neutral wire is nothing more than a bonded ground wire at the load center.
