    Good switches

    These have been great so far! I bought two of them to install for a 2 gang switch for a ceiling fan and lights in the fan. Unfortunately in the app you have to set them up in different rooms or it will turn both on or off at the same regardless of which switch you turn on. It’s to make it work for two light switches across from each other that work the same light. I wish they had the option to set that in the app. But I use Alexa and in there you can set them up in the same room and keep them independent of each other. The circle button is different and you have to make sure press close to the center or the button doesn’t get pressed all the way down and it doesn’t register the press. I’ve never had them not work or randomly disconnect from the WiFi so that’s awesome. Overall I am happy with the switches and I like being able to control them remotely and through Alexa.

    Basic on/off smart switch. One thing that C by GE hides is that when used in a three way, if you want dimming capability, both switches must be C by GE dimmers. When a dimmer is paired with this switch, the three way only acts as an on/off switch. Fits in Decor switch covers. If used in double box with three way wiring, it can be a tight fit. Ring light can only be on full time or off full time. You can have the ring go to red if the switch drops WIFI connection, but when installing, red also indicates that it is not wired correctly.

    This is great. One problem was I had two switches, one at both ends of the room, that could turn off or on the lights. The instructions to do a 3 way switch was not as easy as only one switch.

    Must Be in Separate “Rooms” in C by GE App

    Overall nice smart switch. I installed 3 of them in a 3-gang box in my bedroom. After going through all installation steps, everything worked correctly when using Alexa to control them, but not when I manually pushed the On/Off switch. All three of them would turn On and Off simultaneously and I couldn’t control them individually. At first, I just assumed I crossed Line and Load wires, but after thinking it through, I knew it had to be something else. I stumbled across a feature on another C product description called “Grouping”, which seemed to be what my 3 switches were defaulting to. After experimenting with the C by GE App, I found that if I include them in the same “Room”, they are Grouped and turn On and Off in unison. When I created a separate “Room” for each device, I can manually operate each of them. I can still group them in a “Room” on the Alexa App, but they must be in different “Rooms” on the C by GE App for them to work properly. I’m glad I am lazy and didn’t pull everything out of the wall and start over.

Unlike our smart lights, our smart switches need to be set up in their own rooms in the C by GE app unless they are both part of a a three-way or multi-way configuration. (Multiple switches controlling the same light.) Adding a smart Light or another smart switch to a room that calready contains a smart switch will link those devices together. The switches will start controlling the smart light, as well as all lights they are wired to contol.     This was an addition to similar switches I already owned - I had wanted to have some smart home features without installing a whole different network or investing too much. These switches did the trick. A couple years after buying them initially, I had a switch that went bad and GE, after some extensive troubleshooting, took care of it and sent me new ones. I think they were out of warranty but they still stood by their product.

    I purchased two switches to control the lights in my garage and around the outside of the house. Installation was straightforward. Operates well with the GE app and Alexa. It would give them five stars but the switch was too large for my electrical box. I have an older house and the switch plus the wires would not into the box. I had to put in additional electrical boxes and use the previous box for just wires.

    I bought this smart switch to Alexa control my bathroom because my bathroom light fixture has 6 bulbs in it. I would have to buy 6 smart bulbs at 15-20 dollars a piece. Not worth it to me to control 1 room with lights. Instead, I found this smart switch, which was much more inexpensive. You do have to know a little about home wiring or you could have it professionally installed. At any rate, If you have a fixture with multiple bulbs, The Bluetooth Smart Light Switch is a cost effective way to turn on your lights with Alexa.

    This is a nice dimmer which is currently working but not working with the app or with Google Home it is definitely not as easy as getting a smart bulb which is a lot easier to deal with. I've tried to fix it but not successful yet.

    Smart switches

    Love the switches. They work nicely together, or independently. They do occupy a lot of room in the switch junction box, so be prepared to reposition wires, etc, if you're already tight on space inside. Just waiting for them to come up on a Deal of the Day or something, as I want to redo the rest of the house.

    If you are connecting these to a single light switch it is easy and straight forward. Connecting it using it as a 3 way switch it gets a whole lot more confusing and there are NO instructions that come with the package nor is there anything online that covers the installation with 2 black wires. The dimmer switch has one black and one red wire with detailed instructions on how to connect as a 3 way. You have to hunt for the link though as the one mentioned in the written instructions is a dead link. Because these don't have separate line and load wires I had to try multiple wiring configurations before I got at least one of the switches to work properly. The only way I was able to get the other switch to work at all was to put it in the same room in the C by GE app. You can't set these up directly with the Google Home app. Must be in the GE app first. If my wifi goes down the 2nd switch is useless. It only works by controlling the other switch via wifi. Was only able to figure that out because I waited 45 minutes to get through to the customer support line a few days earlier because another switch wasn't working with the C by GE smart bulbs I had because those weren't loaded into the GE app before using google home. The GE app actually tries to force you to use the google home app instead of the GE app but if you are using the switches and the bulbs you have to reset the bulbs (which is a pain in the butt) to set them up all over again in the GE app. I'm very comfortable with electrical connections and I'm very tech savvy, if not I would have pulled my hair out and returned everything to the store. Spent another 45 minutes on hold for customer service and never did get anybody on the phone before I was finally able to make it work by experimenting on my own and just hung up. I went with these switches because I already had 15 C by GE bulbs (got them much cheaper on and just after black Friday) in my house and because Best Buy put the switches on sale for 1/2 price. If you can get the switches cheap enough and you have the patience and determination to make them work I would go that route and skip the smart bulbs. Yesterday I spent half of the day trying to figure out why all the switches turned red because they lost my WIFI signal. I reset about 6 switches before I finally saw a setting in the GE app for resetting the WIFI connection. Apparently all the switches had dropped my wifi network and connected to what I assume was a neighbor's unsecured network. I was able to fix several other switches just by resetting the wifi network. There is no way to lock it into your secure network which really should be addressed in a software update. I have only had the switches for about 2 weeks but have already spent many hours fighting to get them to work and and connect in the first place and to keep them working. I've learned multiple work arounds for issues that have come up but only because I refused to give up. Bottom line, if you have the patience and determination to make them work and really really want smart light and fan controls and if you get them cheap enough to make it worth your while give them a shot. If you are starting from scratch I would probably try another brand that hopefully has a better staffed customer support and better instructions. Quick note on the packaging. I feel like that is a waste of money and the fancy no screw switch covers are pretty but most of my light switch covers are 2-3 switches so the fancy single switch light covers that come with the switches are inflating the cost of the switches and are just wasted. Would much prefer cheaper packaging without the switch covers (they are readily available at Lowes) and better troubleshooting links on the website to help bring the price of the switches down to make them more affordable.

    Easy install and looks great. My only issue is that it doesn’t stay connected to the network all the time and I am constantly having to reset it and restart it this is a problem that I’m going to address with GE and hopefully work through it but overall seamless in style and seems to work well when it is working .

    The Switch works great, but to get it set up and completely functional you will need an Apple product as the app works on apple and not so much on Android. I tried it on my Samsung S10 and couldn't get anything to work right. Ended up downloading the app on my ipad pro and it worked perfectly.

    Switches are a good bang for buck but the app leaves a bit to be desired. Troubleshot wiring for over 8 hours only to find that moving the switches from one room to a new room was causing the issues in my 3-way setup.

    We purchased C by GE switches because they’re an American based company. C by GE switches are Nice switches. They are easy to instal. However, the connections to Alexa and google is a little slow. Good customer services for GE. Thad’s the man!

    connects to alexa seamlessly. Lighted ring so you can always find the switch. I've had the dimmer version for a month. Even after power outages they haven't dropped connection. Now I have one dimmer, an on/off for the fan, one in the garage, and two other commonly used lights. Only issue I have run into is a single switch 2×4 box is to small.

    We started using these for our porch lights and the lights outside our garage. By syncing with Alexa, we are able to turn them off and on without wasting energy. The former controller where you were supposed to be able to program it, was useless and didn't work. This is much easier and we can program it and turn it off and on when we want.
