I am pretty sure that wifi is required for setup of this device. Don't think you can do it with out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This camera can record to the installed memory card but you need power and if you want to view remotely you do need internet access. A Deer Camera would also work to record locally and uses battery power. Just hide it somewhere facing your camper. You can find camera with built-in internet access to send you and alert/picture of any motion. If 4G even video. Or buy a wireless 4g access point from your cellular carrier, like Verizon. Needs power but would work with this camera just might be expensive if you watch a lot of video on the camera from data usage. Good luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It would not work unless you left a phone out there. I would recommend a different product. There are game/trail cameras that have 3G built in that would do what you're looking for, but they cost about $350 and require an ATT or Tmobile SIM card and data plan. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This camera would certainly do the job once you got it set up, but would require local storage (SD card, NAS or local FTP server). You'd want to set it up where there was a good internet connection as all documents, setup software and firmware updates are on-line. Overall I liked the camera. The interface to view files on the SD card isn't overly user friendly.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Although I haven't specifically tried to tether it from my phone's wifi connection, I don't see a problem with this except possibly speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your goal is to view the video remotely, then you will face this problem with whatever camera system you look to install. You may look into a WiFi hotspot with a cellular carrier. I use Verizon Wireless and have their WiFi hotspot and am very happy with the performance. That can be a pricey solution though. If you are happy with just recording video and being able to review it later, then you can record it locally in the camera on a microSD chip or setup a computer to record the video.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We want to thank you for your interest in the DCS-2330L as we appreciate the concern. Please be advised that the camera has to be connected to a stable internet connection via Ethernet or WiFi for you to view it. Unfortunately, our cameras require an internet connection for the user to view it. We thank you for your question.
