Daytime viewing is Great..

I just picked up this Camera for $146 ( Pricematch from Amazon ) and MicroSD 32gig Scandisk for $22..This is our second Dlink Camera, but our first Outdoor one from dlink..its light weight and a small design..I did do a modification on the install of mounting the camera so you can't see the power cord ( Dlink could rethink hiding cables better on this design ).. The HD live video streaming is Excellent and so are the pictures in Daytime viewing.. Nighttime viewing is not so great since this camera only has on infrared light ( I have the 5020L indoor camera from Dlink and it has a better night vision video stream ). One of the other reason I only gave this camera a 4 star rating is this camera does not doing any remote panning or tilting, it is a mount stand alone camera but you can adjust you view area manually to your liking pretty easily. ( the box says Digital Pan/Tilt/Zoom, Rep Dlink Explain that means when you are viewing through your PC at 16:9 ratio you can move picture to viewable area not move remotely like you can on 5020L model)..Another Great thing about this camera is you can view live video streams through you IPhone6( with mydlink lite free APP) and PC ( IE 8 or higher and Firefox) and also play and view snapshots and video recordings from MicroSD card ( you can also configure to record directly to PC and setup Motion Detection on a Event Setup or by Sound or light to trigger Video recording ). You can connect the camera either Wired or Wireless.. make sure you setup with Setup wizard from Dlink on and from your PC hard wired first even if you already have a Cloud acct with Dlink and do not setup with mydlink lite phone app because it will cause a problem with playback from MicroSD to Iphone's or PC, plus there a Firmware update needed immediately after you start to setup the camera ( and you want to be connected wired when doing update ). You can also adjust the way you view live video stream through app or PC from 1280X720 to 640x320 etc.. If you have high video quality setup on viewing from IPhone you will find it takes longer for live feed to come up ( I left at default settings and it works fine for smartphone viewing )Push Notification come quick and so do emails if you turn those features on for alert's..
I'm here in Texas so we will see if it holds up to the heat and other weather elements.......
I attach some pic's to show how I hide Power Cord on mounting install ( I don't like cords being seen.. little as possible please ).. Hopefully this helps and Dlink will pickup on this...
I did get some question answered from DLink tech and he did a good job..Agent ID: AR004246 case # C6652435

Better Than Dropcam

I bought this to replace a Dropcam I was returning and I'm glad I did. It detects motion and emails me a video clip which is in my GMail so essentially cloud based storage. The other HUGE benefit is that I can use it outdoors. It's also $40 cheaper than Dropcam Pro. Picture quality is better as well.
Now for the configuration...it SUCKS!!! You have to go into the advanced setup and mess with settings that are very cryptic and poorly documented. Sometimes it just emails me a .log file that says "Motion Detected" instead of a .mp4 video. I have no idea what I did to get it to start sending .mp4's again. Sometimes it still sends a .log file...no idea why. Also, you can set it to send a video clip of up to 3 seconds before the motion that triggered, which I have done, but for some reason it doesn't work so often times I get a video clip of just after the motion and I have no idea what it was. You can set it to send up to a 5mb file which I have done but it still sends 2mb files. You can set it to send up to 30 seconds per event, it still sends 5.
Overall, it does work well enough but D-Link definitely needs some help in their software department. I've been writing software for over 20 years and I can't get it to work right so......

Daytime viewing is GREAT ( HD quality is GREAT)Nighttime viewing is not the best but it does great when objects come into view..I also purchased a 32gig Micro sd card to record directly to camera and it works great..making the proper adjustment for motion detection takes some time..the mydlink lite does its job..I did notice if you turn off motion detection within the app it removes all your settings for how you had event recordings setup,so you have to reconfig the event setup..Make sure you have a good internet speed ( no less then 50mbps )and connection both wired and wireless so you won't lose performance when doing live viewing wirelessly on app or recording to camera to sd card..FYI:the higher you set your live view resolution (camera can do 720p @1280*720 resol) the more demand it requires from your internet connection and the bigger the recordings will be..I would have given it 5stars if the Night viewing was better and if camera would rotate thur app..

Compared to some older D-Link cameras I also own, the web interface has been improved upon however still requires the use of Java. Picture quality is pretty good however the motion detection also seems to be lacking compared to my older D-Link cameras. When an event triggers the motion I tend to get better (subject capture) photos out of the older cameras than this one.

After purchasing 2 previous dlink wireless cameras, I purchased this one for its ability to record video clips when motion is detected. Its 720 HD picture was also an attractive feature. This cam sets up quickly,if, you have a dlink router, otherwise, as I learned from my previous models, use with other brand routers can be a headache to setup. Although not a camera fault, the HD picture can only be viewed using the cameras host pc. The dlink mobil apps will not enable HD picture quality. This cam has been running 24/7 without any camera issues for 3 months. If email notifications are enabled, I get 10 to 15 emails a day saying the camera has gone offline. This is where dlink needs to fix the software.

The camera is nice and small and very easy to se up. Look in real time form my phone is simple but formatting a SD card and using some of D-Links software to record is not easy. If your WIFI is not running at top speed adjusting setting and such is a pain. But as I said, nice view and even the night view works great!
Ratings are low due to software.

This is my 3rd Dlink camera. This is my first outdoor camera. I was disappointed about 3 things: 1. Night vision not so great,2.The camera does not seem to move remotely like my other two cameras,3. If it is an outdoor shouldn' t it have talking and listening capabilities. I don't think it does. My indoor camera does. What is good the price, I found mine at Best Buy. Can't be beat for an outdoor camera. Also i think the day light visibility is ok. Remember this is a wireless camera call for help with setup. It plugd in a wall and you can see video with your smart phone. I still like it.

I really like this camera. I use it with Blue Iris and it works great. Two small issues keep it from being Great in my opinion. 1) in IR night mode the picture is not as clear as I would like, and 2) the lens does not provide quiet enough wide angle view. But these are minor and this is a great camera. I plan to get another one soon.

I have three of these cameras and have been using them about two months. Excellent quality in the day time, but you need some light for night time survelliance. Easy to set up if you have network background or have set up routers, etc. I record with the DLink DVR-322l recorder, great buy also and easy to setup.

If you want a camera for just a live view it does ok. However the SD card stopped recording after the first day. It offered an option to send a MP4 file by email when there was motion, this failed when there was a software upgrade a few weeks later. Technical support has not responded to any of my emails and the problem has not been fixed.

Great WiFi Security Camera

I was looking for a WiFi security camera to watch the front of my house while I am a way and during the night. The picture quality is great and the night vision is sufficient, especially for the price point of this camera. The setup was easy and typical of any WiFi device. My first complaint is that the power supply does not disconnect from the camera. The plug is a somewhat large AC adapter. That means that if you want to drill a hole to allow for the power cord to reach inside and the camera outside, the hole must accommodate the large plug. The alternative is to splice the wire. My other complaint is that the MicroSD memory card feature is rather clunky. It is nice that you can put an external card in for storage, but I found the interface to extract video or images to be difficult and not very intuitive. On the flip side though, I installed the D-Link software on a spare computer I had and am continuously recording the video to an external hard drive. That software works like a professional security system and is free. I love it, but it does require pretty much a dedicated computer just for that. Overall, I am extremely happy with the camera and would definitely recommend it to others. In fact, I purchased and setup one for a family member as well.

Bought this unit for it's price/value. Turned out to be a good buy. I needed a basic and reliable nanny cam with remote viewing. This foots the bill, is relatively easy to use once set up (on your WAP and in the App). Now, unless you're on really great internet on both ends, don't expect a flawless image.
Set up was a little harder than I'd prefer, but quite manageable. The app continues to be updated, so good on D-Link. I trust this brand and would use them for an upgrade.

Camera does not work well. The software is no good. It only records onto a SD card and not onto a hard drive. It isn't very clear and only records in 8 second clips and then doesn't record the next clip for a few seconds leaving a gap in recording meaning you may not capture the entire event. Sometimes the motion detection works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it works too well recording everything such as rain drops or a blowing leaf and using up all the memory card even if you turn down the sensitivity. Going through and deleting clips takes days not even hours because you have to go through them one by one or else delete all video for a four hour time frame risking losing something you may need. And its too expensive at nearly $200 to have all those issues. Look for something else.

Bought this camera to mount on my garage under the over hang. So far it has worked great. The picture quality is excellent in HD. Only issue is the night vision doesn't cover more. I can see in by backyard fine. But is is pointed down my driveway so quality is not that good outside my backyard, but that is what is says in the specs. Day time quality is excellent and I can see all the way across the street.

I bought this camera to monitor the backyard of my house, I can keep an eye on things when I am away. This camera also works at night, I also am able to record video in case something comes up. Using the ethernet connection is more reliable than using wifi.
