Hi Richie, and thank you for reaching out with your question. No, the Defender Guard app IP camera runs on The Defender Guard app, and is completely independent from a DVR system. The SD card that comes with the camera is a 16 GB, which is approximately 1-3 days of continuous and 3-5 in motion detection. The camera will allow for up to a 128 GB SD card to be used, which would allow for longer recordings.
