There is an SD card slot in the monitor for recording. It will hold up to a 128GB SD card. You have to set the system to record (in the menu settings) but it is easy to do and works. You can set it to monitor constantly or to only motion record. There are other systems available from Defender if you want to record with a dvr but you have to provide a monitor for viewing. We bought one of those, hooked it up to an old 13 inch TV and used it for a number of years until the wireless part of the system failed. We have 2 of these monitored defender systems running right now with SD cards for recording. One of these we have had for several years and it has been so dependable that we bought another - one for the front and one for the back. Invaluable for people who want to keep an eye on their property.
