“The camera(s) need to connect to a power source. Can they be directly hardwired by an electrician or is a nearby outlet needed? I would like to mount the camera high up on exterior wall of the house and drill a small hole inside to connect to power.”

Thanks for your question Bill. Do not have these cameras directly wired into your home wiring, you must use the included power adapter with an indoor power outlet. The total power cable length is 16ft with a disconnect at the halfway point.

They could be directly wired but I think it would be a better idea to wire an outlet near the location. The if one should fail you could just unplug and plug in a new one. If you are paying an electrician it might be a less expensive option as well.
