A:Answer Hello Melissa, thank you for your inquiry. All recording is resident on the HDD of the DVR unit. Any theft of the box would regretfully prevent recovery of the footage. With respect to the cameras, when mounted outside, the wires are protected through the mount and would not be able to be cut (as they would run through your exterior wall). Cutting could then only occur indoors, but yes, if wires were cut, recording would only take place through that particular camera up until that point.
