• Neither. You must run speaker wire (from an amplifier or receiver to them). But you don't need to connect each to a power outlet. Only battery powered Wifi or BT speakers don't need a cord of some kind.

• No, this speaker needs to have speaker wire run to it. I do use it with a Sonos speaker amp and that works great.
