A:AnswerI got DT BP-9060’s towers with marantz sr50515 and DT CS9060 center ch and pro monitors 1000’s DT for surround and DTDN 8 Sub. The center channel. The center channel is most important, especially for movies are seeing as you have a good sub I would buy a second sub and save money on buying the BP 9040s. You can also LFE to the back of the 9040s or 9060s instead of a second sub with a Y splitter because your receiver has to LFE ports and in that case go for the 9060s they have the 10 inch sub in them with dual base radiators. So if you get them play around with the speaker settings, small and large to see what sounds best to you.
A:AnswerThe speakers are priced as EACH, Open Box in most cases they are available, and the location and pricing varies, based on condition of item. Usually it is a Floor Model/Demo an in most cases a customer return. I would strongly recommend close inspection if you can, or if you order online understand the return policy as some items have a restock fee. Def Tech's are always a win, if you don't mind some cosmetic flaws (scratch on side, etc.) you make snag an awesome deal! I purchased a Open Box Supercube 6000 and use it in my dedicated media room, so for 40% off, with a scratch on the side, in a mostly dark room, its a major upgrade and win! I hope this helps.
A:AnswerI think there is no difference. I think ST = Super Tower, whereas "x" denotes integrated Dolby Atmos speakers on top. But before they were produced, DT decided to only offer the largest (BP9080's) with the integrated Dolby Atmos speakers integrated on top, whereas you could add the Dolby Atmos speakers to the tops of the BP9060's, 40's, 20's. So, they dropped the "ST" idea and instead named the big ones BP9080x.
A:AnswerNot a good idea as the drivers are already ~ 3 FT above the base, sound will pass above your ears. And you need to "couple" the subwoofers to back and side walls
A:AnswerI have the Definitive Technology BP series towers and CS center channel. BP 9080 left and right towers, CS9080 center. All have self powered subs. The towers also come with a separate input for Dolby Atmos upward firing speakers. They only connect via analog speaker cable. I do have a Marantz receiver that connects via bluetooth and wireless internet to source material, however these Definitive Technology speakers do not have blue tooth connectivity. I am not certain if there are any other definitive speakers that do offer Bluetooth connectivity. The only system I am aware of that come with that feature built in are the Bose 600 and 650 series home theater systems.
I do believe there are devices available that allow you to connect from your AV receiver / TV to any speaker via Bluetooth. Perhaps "Rocketfish" is a company that offers connection equipment that is placed near the components, and then send a wireless signal instead of running analog speaker cable.
I hope this helps.
A:AnswerYes, the BP-9020 can be connected with only speaker wire and ran as full range. For system flexibility, It also provides the option of connecting an LFE signal via RCA from a AV receiver along with speaker wire.
A:Answer16 Ga is fine. Lots of people (men... it's only men) say thicker is better, but they are just compensating for something else. The whole business of "elite" speaker wire (organic, first-press copper, silver and gold added, bla bla bla...) does not make a difference that is detectible by the human ear. It's all placebo effect... especially after you listen to music and movies using these BP-9080x speakers. Tinnitus may be an unintended side effect of using these speakers!
A:AnswerI had the same question when I bought these. Provided that you input the Bass outputs from your receive into each speaker's inputs, and provided you plug the speakers into an AC outlet, I don't think a subwoofer is necessary. I do NOT have the bass settings turned up all the way and I get more bass than I need. You can feel the bass and it will rattle windows. Consistent base with movies, streaming music and gaming.
