“I go to hook this monitor up to my Xbox one x and try and run 120 hertz and the screen just goes black. I don’t know what to do to fix this.”

Your Xbox and the HDMI cable each can only run at a maximum of 60fps. To use this monitor for gaming at high fps and g sync or vertical sync you need to be using a display cable with a PC and have the necessary drivers downloaded for vertical sync. Hook the monitor up to a computer and put it back to 60fps then back to the console and see if it works. Also check the input source if you set it to 120hz the monitor might have switched to the display port input because HDMI can't do 120hz and that will result in a black screen due to not having input going to the display port.
