I am also a cybersecurity major and can say from experience, ram plays a part but also consider the GPU for more intense computing such as John, etc. Laptops with integrated graphics can have more constraints compared to a dedicated GPU workstation or even gaming laptop. The good news is that if the base RAM isn’t big enough, this laptop is upgradable. You can bypass these constraints such as running a light weight docker container with Kali, or even Kali with XFCE is light enough as it is with a min recommended RAM of 2 GB. I digress, my main point is that you have options with a dell latitude to upgrade the hardware based on what the specs sheet is capable of. The main decision maker is what kind of labs you plan on doing.
