“Just bought the laptop! When gaming, and on charge, I noticed the battery is EXTREMELY hot. Like so hot, that if I hold my hand on the battery (above the keyboard) it hurts/burns. I don't want the battery to explode or get damaged. Is this normal?”

That is normal, what you are actually feeling above the keyboard are the temps from the video card and CPU, the systems thermal protection keeps them from getting damaged, but it still pretty hot but safe. The battery is below the keyboard, about under the touchpad. I have never felt it hot there.
