• 9 hours . For VPN, it is 64 bits windows 10 OS. You need to install proper VPN software and it does work. After login to VPN, then you can Remote Desktop to your office computer.

• The battery when not plugged in averages 9-10 hours with a light to medium load (google docs/word/spreadsheet/slideshow). I cannot speak to heavy usage, as it depends on the type of work being done (especially with this kind of low-power processor, certain tasks take a LOT more battery power than others). VPN should work fine; I have used Private Internet Access on the laptop, and it works flawlessly.
