I called best buy to confirm that the two systems have exactly identical hardware. One has windows 8.1 and the newer one has windows 10 preinstalled from Dell, which is why they have different model numbers.

Please try again later.The Dell Inspiron has a faster processor (3.0 GHz vs 2.5 GHz), slower HD (hard drive) (5400 RPM vs 7200 RPM), better GPU (R7 M270 vs R7 M265), more ram (12 GB vs 8 GB), a touchscreen, better resolution (3840 x 2160 (UHD) vs 1366 x 768 (HD)), and a better wireless card (802.11 AC vs 802.11n) in it.
