If you are buying this for regular use (basic programs, MS Office, movies), it will serve your purpose - however you could get along with a medium end display. If you are buying it only for the 4K Ultra HD display, be warned - though the display is stunning, however: 1) The sound is somewhat weak - I can barely watch a movie with the volume turned on max, because my AC (admittedly moderately noisy) drowns it out. Also cant handle bass tones too well, tends to break up 2) Not the laptop's fault, but I found most games today are not optimized to display resolutions above 1920x1080. Trying to run a game with your desktop resolution set at 4K HD, will lead to a tiny game display. The only way to correct this is to set your desktop to 1920x1080 or lower. Which defeats the whole point (Tested on Alien Isolation, Arkham Asylum, Bioshock Infinite, Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider 2014) 3) The Graphics card is not meant to handle most game settings over Medium or at best High. No hope for maxing out settings. Pros: a) Really lightweight for its configurations b) The keyboard is just the right size, there is enough room to rest your wrists on the laptop body while typing (felt weird at first but you get used to it quick) c) Backlit keyboard is very convenient Cons: a) The 12 GB RAM doesn't show any observable performance improvement over my 3 year old Vaio with 8 GB RAM (both Intel i5). Youtube analytics sites still hang on Firefox. The screen is pretty responsive though. b) 4K resolution needs more juice before it gets mainstream

I looked at a bunch of different laptops before settling on this dell. It has plenty of storage, an I7 and tons of ram so it should last me a long time. What really impressed me though was the screen, it has a 4k display that is just beautiful and the viewing angles are the best I've ever seen. The touch display is also nice but I rarely ever use it.

This is a good all purpose laptop. It is very light and stays cool. The keyboard is small but you just need to get used to it. The 4k has a beautiful display with top-notch qualities but you will run into some scaling issues with certain programs. Dell does load a lot of unnecessary software on this laptop so I did a factory reset as soon as I go it and it has been running great ever since.

Overall a very good laptop. It has the best overall in specifications. I needed more that 8GB of memory, large disk, <5 lb, touchscreen and fast processor. What I would have liked, faster disk and a Ethernet port (only WII-FI)

One of the best Notebook computers I have bought in a while. It has features which are top of the line at the time of writing this review. Screen resolution at 4K is amazing, i7 processor has power to keep up with OS and applications demands. Total of 12 GB RAM comes pre-installed (expandable to 16 GB). Although, not bad, I would prefer 16 GB standard (expandable to 32 GB). Keyboard is nice, has MAC type of feeling with somewhat shorter travel which may appear little funny initially, but, feels good after some usage. Overall, a very good machines. I recommend buying at this price.

I purchased this laptop after a lot of online research. I got 150 off from the back to school coupon and tax free for back to school day. I would recommend this to someone whose usage is moderate. Upgraded to windows 10 almost immediately. I use it for programming, netflix, video streaming, photo editing. All video's are full HD or above and the laptop plays them like a breeze. pros: excellent display good specs upgrades to windows 10 easily looks cool and not plastic like cons: A lot of software doesn't support ultra HD, not even scalable. So the software screens become a bit small for comfort. This can be overcome by temporarily lowering the resolution. Also 4K/5K video's do not work very well in Google chrome. But they are a breeze with Microsoft edge. I think this has more to do with chrome than the laptop. If you have the money to spend, a definite recommended buy.

Satisfied with purchase of this model. I wanted a windows based MacBook Pro equivalent with touch screen. Positives: i7 5500u processor, 4k ultra HD touch screen, backlit keyboard 4GB dedicated video card and 12 GB ram, Negatives: I still want a wired ethernet port and the hard drive cripples performance for a premium laptop.

The speed and resolution of the computer are wonderful. Had a problem connecting to my wireless, but the tech service was wonderful. I like the light weight of the laptop. What I do not like about the keyboard is that it is very much like a MAC. Keyboard spacing is different than my HP pc and there is not a keyboard for numbers. Overall, I am enjoying it, but still am having to learn much more about the functions and their locations.

After several calls to Dell tech support (they were very helpful and caring) and after a trip to the geek squad I found out that If you don't need the graphics that this machine provides. Buy the lesser machine. I had to dumb down the graphics because not all programs can run in the highest settings. Since then the machine has been wonderful. It is very fast. Windows 8 does take time to get used to.

I was looking for a true desktop replacement and this computer fulfils that needs. Storage, RAM & weight are no issue. Occasionally, I let one of the grandkids use it as a gaming machine and it takes care of that too.

I do a lot of work on the computer as a game developer. I do 3d modeling and animation with Blender, Game Design with Unity, program using visual studio, texture editing with GIMP, audio creation and editing with Fruity Loops, the internet with Chrome and IE, More texture edits with Filter Forge and several other miscellaneous things all at the same time. This computer runs all those programs at the same time without issues. Thats a pretty solid machine if you ask me. Only issue I've had are with the way the graphics card needs to be manually pointed to specific programs or the processor will attempt to render graphics. This isnt difficult to do but is one extra step I'd rather not have to take. It also plays any game at medium or higher graphics settings. Pretty smooth machine for any computer task. Would make the same purchase over again if I could go back in time.

It has Fantastic resolution on a widescreen touch display. It's blazing fast and very light. Very satisfied.

This laptop has plenty of speed for most computing, though I haven't tested it on intensive gaming, and the display looks great. However, as 4K displays are still relatively new, there are some programs that do not know how to properly handle the display. For example, Sketchup, an easy to use 3D CAD program will be unusable at the native resolution. Since there is not currently a fix for this from any of the hardware or software vendors it is tedious to manually change the resolution each time I need to use this program. If you have an important program that you need to run on a regular basis, make sure that it will support a 4K display.

I was looking to replace an older Dell Laptop that had 640x480 resolution and USB 2.0. I needed USB 3.0 with 4K resolution to download and edit high resolution photos. This Dell laptop was the perfect lower priced laptop that gave me beautiful pictures to edit and view and download from DSLR camera. They're are more expensive laptops with better screens(maybe), but this laptop is all I needed. Also good price.

Extremely well put together. Appears to be carbon and brushed aluminum. Light weight with Ultra streamlined design. User friendly interface and ease of operation. However facial recognition feature needs a bit of work by Dell for it to operate the way it was meant to. Great concept, lets get it working right. I was BLOWN AWAY by the RESOLUTION! That is saying something for me, working for many years as a Graphic Artist!

This laptop is fantastic. It's lightweight, has plenty of RAM, a gorgeous 4K touch display, and decent dedicated graphics. The dual-core i7 keeps up while multi-tasking just fine. The touchpad is very smooth, and the keyboard spacing is good, backlighting isn't too much / too little...although slightly more keyboard travel would be more comfortable. The touch screen is nice to use but of course smudges are a challenge. I recommend upgrading to an SSD for even faster performance - you won't regret it!

Haven't had a dell computer in many years but I am very happy with the new Dell Inspiron with a 4K display and 1 Terabyte drive. I use the system for photography primarily so the high quality display is important. High resolution photography uses a lot of disk space so I really appreciate the 1 Terabyte drive .

Absolutely great. I'm not easy to impress but oh boy, this it great comp. Great 4k display. Excellent built, fast, great battery life, light weight. Don't have any complaints. Get it. It's great value.

I had returned both the Lenova Yoga 2 Pro and the Dell I7547 and was frustrated The Lenova was too small for me The Dell I7547 hard drive failed after 2 hours out of the box. They gave me a 2nd I7547 and it failed. So I opted for the more expensive Dell with a i7 gen 5 chip. WOW it has 12g of RAM and really great resolution of screen. It all seems to work very well for me. So far week 1 I am very satisfied,

I bought this laptop to use at work. I am a teacher and use this laptop to make worksheets for math. The 4k screen is beautiful and I really like the touch screen. I can play Civ 5 on it and I am very impressed with the graphics. I am very happy with this laptop
