- Answer You can easily change it from S mode to regular mode (so you can download apps external to the Microsoft App Store - S mode means you cannot install apps that are not from the Microsoft App Store). But important note, once you change it and it is no longer in S mode, you cannot go back to S mode. Ever. Just wanted to make that clear.
