It's the standard SATA interface. I also changed out my laptop standard SATA 5400rpm that it came with, which was very slow at boot up and heavy use. Replaced with the San disk 240Gb SSD SATA III and now it's quick and responsive. The process is tedious but if you have experience, it's not too hard. Going down from a 1TB to 240GB required additional work involved in the cloning process, but it's worth it.
