You can go to many sites to compare processor speeds. One such site is: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com. I'm sure if you google a bit you can figure out what the 'U' means. The processor in this laptop is a 7th generation i5 Intel processor. The number has nothing to do with the disk speed. This computer has the older standard laptop drive speed of 5400 RPM (see the specs).

This unit has a 7200 RPM drive, meaning the hard drive disc platters revolve 7200 times per minute.
