- Answer The amount of had drive space left after installation of the operating system and drives was sufficient to add Office, Photoshop and at least half-a-dozen other large programs. We use the cloud to store photos so the remaining drive space was still large enough to allow the download and installation of Windows Anniversary. The screen is very sharp and colorful. We don't watch movies on our laptop but it should be quite satisfactory. The wi-fi system in our home is 5-G and the laptop would easily connect and and remain locked on over most of our 2,800 sq. ft. home.

QuestionI just took my dell laptop about of the box and plugged it in and it does not start right away. Does it need to be charged completely first even though I have the power adapter plugged in?

- Answer Usually not, but it always a good idea to charge for several hours before using. Make sure you hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds and watch for the keyboard to light up. If nothing happens, take it to Geek Squad.

QuestionDoes the keyboard light up ?

- Answer The keyboard has three backlight modes: off, on low, and on high. The difference between low and high light levels is negligible, though I have not yet tried it in the dark. You can toggle through modes via the F10 key. So far the backlight is on every time I boot up the computer - not sure if there is a way (menu) to turn it off permanently or not.

- Answer This computer does not have an Ethernet port. Manufacturers tend not to include them in consumer laptops to reduce cost and to simplify the laptop. Most people have wifi in their homes so an Ethernet port isn't an absolute necessity. You can purchase an external dock that allows you to hook up peripherals and cables like a display, keyboard, mouse, and ethernet cable. Or there are cheaper devices (<$15) that just convert Ethernet to USB.
