“How good is the sound quality? Can anything be done to upgrade It? My in-house tech support (aka my son) is now in the Navy and not around to easily help me out so please forgive the silly question!”

Sound quality is fair for a laptop. The laptop has built in Bluetooth, so you could easily add a Bluetooth speaker to it and have excellent sound quality.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.excellent volume but has a static -y sound at higher volume; also sounds as if you are getting a slight echo, if it is turned up beyond 3/4 of max. The volume, at 3/4 and less, however, is PLENTY loud for my slightly hard of hearing mother.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sound quality depends on the soundcard which is soldered in the motherboard and it also depends on the speaker size. The best sounding speakers I've heard are from Lenovo and Toshiba. Dell, HP and Asus has weak sounding speakers
