“I have an earlier version of the inspiron and it always had a problem with overheating and it would shut down.. Has this issue been fixed in the new versions?”

I have not experienced a problem with overheating on this laptop. I do make sure not to block the vntilation ports on the back of the laptop. They are located between the hinges.
