Please try again later.Since the drive does not have an onboard DVD drive, we purchased the Dell USB Slim DVD +/- RW Drive - DW316 which was on display next to the purchased laptop. It connects via old USB connector. The GOOD: Playing music via media player: tested, works great. Playing a movie via provided software: tested, works great. THE BAD: Installing software from this drive via the recommended external drive is excruciating... pathetically slow. I didn't have any other option as the laptop does not come with DVD onboard. It's only day one and I don't know if the issue is the drive or the laptop at this point. Note that the external drive was starting and stopping, starting and stopping. I had to make two attempts to load my software. I looked on the Dell website, and this external drive is NOT ON THE COMPATIBLE LIST for particular laptop!! Perhaps this is the price paid for not integrating a dvd player/recorder onto the laptop itself. We don't have to load software that often, so... maybe we can live with this situation. Still waiting to see. The software did eventually install, but I had to be incredibly impatient on what should be a blazing fast system that has the top specs I could afford to purchase!
