According to a Dell Technical Support Specialist, you can add an SSD to this laptop. It contains an M.2 connection. "sorry for the delay, yes, that comes with an m.2 slot." I also downloaded the instruction manual, and it contains instructions on how to "replace" the M.2 SSD. (in this instance it would be how to install since it does not come with an M.2 SSD installed.)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Geek Squad @ Utica, Michigan location informed me that I couldn't just add SSD but had to replace the existing hard drive with one. That original HD is now an external drive, which is no big deal in the long run.
