- Answer You are living in the past. For the form factor, they need that space for drives and internals. If you need a cd/dvd drive - get an external one and plug it into the USB port.

- Answer yes, it will support (2) 16 GB RAM sticks (has two bays). My model has two 8GB memory sticks, but Dell also offers the 32GB version also.

- Answer It does, but not just any pen. I purchased the suggested option at Best Buy, Bamboo Ink and it was not compatible. After researching capabilities and needs, discovered that the Dell Active Pen is necessary to utilize this feature.
