It has a USB-C on the left side and Ryzen 5 is a little more $ wise than the i5. Not sure what gen i5 your trying to compare it to but assuming your comparing it to the 9th or 10th gen. I'm not a processor geek by any means but think it beats the 9th gen but not noticable difference to the 10th gen

For the last 2-3 generations of Ryzen, the Ryzen 5 has beaten the I5 equivalent processor according to most reviews in almost every category. Chances are if you took the I5 and placed it against the Ryzen 5, then the Ryzen 5 would win with both processors being released within a year of each other. The Ryzen 5, counting cores, performance and all, is closer to the i7 in most generations. This Ryzen 5 is 6 cores, single threaded--6 threads total. Multi-threading is great if you are doing a lot of stuff, but for most people 6 threads from 6 cores will work fine. A thread gets the entire core to itself and it doesn't have to share it with another thread--this results in faster single core performance compared to a multi-threaded core. Most users won't use more than 3-4 threads at a time anyway. Cores are more important than threads. If you want to do a lot of gaming on a laptop, look a little higher to something like a Ryzen 7 with at least 16GB RAM, and consider the Ryzen 5000 series with a possible GPU add on.
