• unfortunately it looks like the ones in laptops, it's mounted sideways... since people don't use DVD or CD's much these days, I would not consider it a deal breaker.

• CD-Rom is very much like those found in a laptop. I have owned several tower units over the years that had a more substantial CD-Rom drive.
