  • Question1. Can I upgrade to Windows 10 pro from Windows home and what is the cost of the upgrade? 2. Can I add a SSD 128 or 256 to this pc? 3. Can I add additional memory from 12 to 16 or 32? 4. Does this N wifi has 2.4 and 5.0?

    Asked by AYneedhelp.

    • Answer I don't own this unit but as an IT professional I can tell you that: 1)Windows 10 home cane be upgraded to pro for $100 extra, plus taxes *if applicable* 2) Depending on whether or not you intend to swap the primary drive with an SSD but, you can add whatever size SSD you want, swapping the primary out would be possible but would require a bit of work. 3) no idea, Dells usually allow you to add more. 4) Dell usually has a 2.4 AND 5 compatible WiFi card.

  • Questionwill the computer have the window 7 pro 64 option or it only in window10

    Asked by JUNIOR.

    • Answer Windows 10 Only, unless you go back in time and get a copy of Windows 7. Keep in mind 10 has been out well over a year now... If you simply don't like the interface, I would suggest going to ninite.com and installing Classic Start. Once installed you can right click the start button and go to settings and pick the interface look you want.

  • QuestionI have speakers, monitor, keyboard, mouse that I purchased with a Dell setup in 2007. Will these peripherals work with this tower? They have not been used since 2011. I was using Windows 7 and did a lot with pictures/music, until the tower crashed.

    Asked by Betsy.

    • Answer Yes they will work, I took my speakers from a 2001 model and they worked on this model. As far as the keyboard and mouse go, they must have a USB input to be used on this tower. This model lets you plug in a monitor via HDMI input as well as the older style fifteen pin input.

  • QuestionI am a wedding photographer and am considering this to use with Photoshop creative cloud, does this have what it takes to do that?

    Asked by Heather.

    • Answer I'm an amateur photographer and take lots of pictures. I use Photoshop Elements and store my pictures on the computer's hard drive. I am very pleased with the speed and functionality of the Dell. I have noticed a significant improvement in the time it takes to edit and save large photo files. My only reservation about this computer is that it has only one hard drive bay. My plan is to set up my old computer for Network Attached Storage and install a 4TB drive in it. I hope that this helps.

  • QuestionIs this computer loud or quiet?

    Asked by Michi.

    • Answer I have had the computer for about a month & have zero complaints on the noise. The desk I purchased isn't very spacious, so the tower is sitting roughly two feet from me on top of the desk & I can hardly hear it. If I'm watching/listening to anything at a low volume, I can't even hear it all. When it's turning on, you can hear it, but past that - no noise.

  • QuestionWhat fps can this run battle royale games such as fortnite at Thanks

    Asked by WAnnaBUy.

    • Answer I can't speak to the exact FPS, but I have had the computer for about a month now & play Fortnite a bit, but the quality is not good. I have to use the second lowest settings just to get it to run smoothly, and my FPS is anywhere from 20 at the main menu, to 45 or so during the game. If you're trying to play any newer games (Fortnite, Overwatch, Battlefield, etc.) I would not recommend this computer, unless you plan to upgrade & add a graphics card, which you need to be cautious of given the meager Power Supply.

  • QuestionCan this desktop run War Thunder smoothly? (War Thunder is an MMO with lots of Tanks, Battleships, and Fighter Planes all at once. Did I mention lots of explosions?)

    Asked by Question.

    • Answer Probably not on remotely high settings. Upon checking the War Thunder system requirements, it immediately mentioned needing a GPU with dedicated ram, which this PC does not have. You could add a 1050 ti (single fan) for roughly $200 and it would run just fine. It has a good enough CPU & more than enough ram for the PC, but simply does not provide the GPU. If you are considering this for War Thunder & plan to purchase a new Graphics Card, please make sure you get a single fan (the dual fans will not physically fit in the small tower, according to the folks at Dell) and it will run off the power of the motherboard. This PC has a built in power supply at just 240W. It does not have a PSU with connectors in the back, so you will not be able to upgrade to a 1060+, unless you want to buy a new PSU & have it awkwardly sit outside the tower.

  • QuestionCould I put a gtx 1060 3gb duel fan in here? if not, how about a single fan version?

    Asked by paul.

    • Answer The 1060 - no, you cannot add it because you need to connect that to a power supply. This PC has a built in power supply, so it does not have the connectors needed. You could look to add the 1050 or 1050 ti because they run power straight from the motherboard. I would recommend the ti for the extra $40(ish) because you're going to double the result with 4GB vs 2GB of dedicated ram. To answer your question about the fans - I was told by a Dell rep that the dual fan will NOT fit in the case (the tower is too small). The results are meager in terms of performance between the dual & single fan units, but I would recommend getting a reputable brand for the unit. I've heard good things about ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI.

  • QuestionHow much does it cost to upgrade to a geforce 1080? And when/where do I upgrade it? Like is there a way to upgrade it on this website or do I upgrade it at Best Buy once I pick it up? Please help.

    Asked by Helpme22.

    • Answer You're going to have a very difficult time upgrading to a 1080. Several things on this machine will keep you from doing it - the primary one being the physical size of the tower; the GPU is probably too big to fit. The second issue is the power supply. The power supply is built into the case, not a separate/replaceable one, and it's a meager 240WT. You're going to need a bigger case & a more "powerful" power supply to upgrade to the 1080. I haven't purchased it yet, but I'm considering the single fan 1050ti. It's not as powerful as the 1080, sure; but it should get the job done for most games. It's half the price & would fit in this machine (according to the folks at Dell).

  • QuestionDOES IT HAVE A WIRED MOUSE AND KEYBOARD? NOT A FAN OF BUYING BATTERIES.

    Asked by UNCLE.

    • Answer Yes, both keyboard and mouse are wired. They are also better than a basic keyboard/mouse you would typically get. They keyboard is slightly better than average, but the mouse is a lot better, in my opinion. They are more like a gaming keyboard and mouse. You may wish to get a USB hub and/or extender for them, depending on your setup, though Best Buy sells those easily enough (I'd recommend saving money and going with the Insignia brand, Best Buy's in house brand - no I don't work for them, but have in the past and they don't let you down).

  • QuestionCan i upgrade this to have a gtx 1050. Thanks in advance

    Asked by WAnnaBUy.

    • Answer You can upgrade to the 1050, yes. BUT - I was told by a Dell rep that you need to get the single fan unit instead a dual fan unit. He told me that the dual fan will not fit in the tower as the tower itself is too small. Personally - I would recommend spending the extra $40(ish) to get the 1050 ti vs the regular 1050 though. You will double your results & if you're only planning to buy one GPU, it will be worth it in the long run.

  • QuestionCan I add a different type of gpu or a processor?

    Asked by ANickname.

    • Answer Personally, I don't like the answer provided about "it's for Grandma..." so I'll try to explain my experience with the PC. I know you can fit a single fan 1050 ti, which will power MOST games that are out there on decent settings. I was told by a Dell rep that the dual fan will not physically fit in the tower because the tower itself is too small. I'm not sure what your PC needs are - but if they are for gaming, I wouldn't write this off as a horrible purchase, but know that you will need to upgrade at least one of the components. The CPU (i5 7400) isn't top of the line, but it'll get the job done for most things. The 12GB is 50% more than the popular 8GB computer options that are out there for similar price points, marketed as "gaming PCs," so that's a plus. The biggest issue with this PC is the meager power supply it comes with at just 240W. The 1050 ti is the highest GPU you can upgrade to, without having to buy a new power supply & have it awkwardly sit outside the tower, because it will not fit inside of it. If you are going to look at the 1050 line, please spend the extra $40(ish) and the ti vs the regular one. You will double your results & if you're only going to make one GPU purchase, it's worth the extra money. I would also recommend making sure you get a reputable brand, such as ASUS, Gigabyte, or MSI.
