• Hello! You can absolutely connect your computer's USB to this monitor directly. It also comes with a USB cable included.

• USB-3 is for the USB host ports on the back (for peripherals). This gets video from DisplayPort or HDMI only. USB-C to HDMI converter cables work well (though sold separately).
