“Are these units refurbished by Dell (coming from Dell) or is there another third party involved? In the case of a worn out battery (since these are older used units) would the battery be replaced before being sold here? Thank you.”

These are refurbished by Best Buy and it is recommended to contact their customer support to check for warranty validity.
