• 2 Differences: The Cup Holder for 685 have a metal holder/ tray.... .and the steam wand also have 2 positions forfrothing and heating...Everything else is the same

• Hi Nina, the difference between these units are the materials they are made out of. The EC685m is made out of all stainless steel which is the main difference between the two units. Thank you.
