“Hello, my Samsung tv has 2 HDMI ports,no audio jacks. I have one for the cable and the other for a firestick. All i want is the audio through the receiver for surround sound. CanI hook up the optical cable only for sound? Any help would be appreciated.”

Optical cable from tv to receiver will give you surround audio you need
