I connected my cable box output HDMI to the S650. Then I connected my new LQ 4K TV to the S650 using another HDMI cable. Everything works like a charm! I do set the AVR to stereo when watching generic TV shows. The surround sound just doesn't sound as good with voice in my small family room. On my old Denon AVR 3802 I had to use an optical cable from the TV out to the Denon in to get the sound right. This set-up is much cleaner and simpler. I love my new S650!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The 1609 was an HDMI switcher only. All of our current AVRs, including the S650H, are HDMI repeaters. This means they're capable of processing HDMI audio. 5.2 is no problem as the S650H is a 5 channel receiver.
