The video chain is very similar (HDMI 2.1, HDCP 2.3, 8K, 4K 120Hz, VRR, etc.) other than the 4700 has a Zone 2 HDMI out (the s960h has dual outputs but the secondary is Video only). The audio chain is substantially different, the 4700 is far more robust and capable, it's 9.2 (vs. 7.2) and is 11.2 capable with the addition of an external 2 channel amplifier. Regarding Dolby ATMOS, the 4700 can do 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 out of the box while the s960h can only do 5.1.2 with no way to expand due to no pre-outs (the x4700h can do 7.1.4 or 9.1.2 with an additional 2ch. amp). The 4700 also has the more advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room calibration versus standard Audyssey (this allows for more positions to be measured and it calibrates multiple subwoofers independently). Obviously there is a substantial price difference between the two and if that price difference is of no concern then the x4700 is the better choice since it is far more capable regarding Audio.
