This receiver should be a nice upgrade to what you have now. Technology improvements include simpler connections, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also has the latest sound processing modes (DTS and Dolby) along with other spacial settings. TV connects via HDMI Monitor Out, and there are 6 other assignable HDMI inputs for your DVD/Blu-ray, cable/satellite, game modules, etc. If your current sound peripherals don't support HDMI, you could connect them via the 4 assignable RCA jacks.
